Prof. Paul Mitrofanoff

The Mitrofanoff procedure was developed in 1976 by French Paediatric Urology Surgeon, Prof. Paul Mitrofanoff. The procedure was developed to help individuals with incontinence issues, void their bladder while maintaining dignity. The Mitrofanoff has been utilised successfully to provide a continent stoma for intermittent self-catheterisation.

Prof. Mitrofanoff ceased practicing surgery in 2000, and since that time has been enjoying retirement with his family at his home just outside Paris. In early 2013, Prof. Mitrofanoff contacted Mitrofanoff Support in the UK to congratulate them on their amazing work supporting patients and those with severe incontinence. He recently showed his support for the organisation by attending the Patient Education Day held in London on the 28th September 2013. Prof. Mitrofanoff spent time with Janelle and Greg Solomon, CEO and Directors on the Mitrofanoff Support Australia Board. He was delighted to hear a similar support organisation was starting up in Australia and wished the organisation all the best in our endeavours.
